Morning

Silas, this morning you slept in, long after Daddy and Henry had gone downstairs. You stirred at one point, raised your head to look around, and then burrowed into my neck. I'd been awake for a while and was getting restless. I looked over at my iPhone on the dresser and wished I had it in my hand to mindlessly surf the internet.

But then, as I felt your warm, fuzzy head resting against me, I realized how fleeting these moments are. You're getting so big so fast. I imagined you as a teenager, too busy for his mom; a young adult, out on his own; and a man with a family to take care of. And I let you snuggle into me until you woke up and smiled your sunny smile at me.

Good morning, baby.

Henry Quotes (November 2011 Edition)

HENRY: When Maddy was over we were writing messages to each other. I wrote, "Maddy sat in a chair and a T-Rex ate her."
ME: What did she say?
HENRY: She said, "Awkward." And I said, "Yeah, that IS awkward!"

Henry & my husband watched a documentary about Jake Jabara, who flew combat in the Korean war and was the first American jet ace in history. At the end, the announcer stated that Jabara tragically died in a car accident at the age of 43. Henry said, "They say that like 43 is young." And he was honestly puzzled.
